How do I show a link only on certain devices, in certain countries or at certain times?
With Automatic link rules you decide when a link is visible and where it leads. For example, the same link can open the App Store on an iPhone and your website on a computer.
On the website
- Open My page and click the Automatic link rules icon next to a link.
- Click New rule and under If choose a Time, a Country or a Device, for example iPhone & iPad.
- Under Then choose Show link, To another address or Hide. For an App Store link, choose To another address and paste the address.
- Click Apply. Under If no rule matches you decide what all other visitors see.
- Under Test rules, check what a visitor sees for a country, device and point in time, then click Save.
In the app
- Tap My page at the bottom and tap a link.
- Tap Open rules.
- Set up your rules just like on the website, check them with Test rules and tap Save.
Good to know
- Automatic link rules are included from Pro. You can always switch off or remove rules.
- Rules apply from top to bottom: the first one that matches counts. A link can have up to 20 rules.
- With Click limit, the link is hidden or leads somewhere else after a certain number of clicks.
- With A/B test you split visitors across several addresses. Each visitor always gets the same variant.
- The country is detected roughly from the internet connection and can differ with a VPN. Some iPads identify themselves as a computer.
- If the link has a schedule, it applies as well: outside of it the link is always hidden.
- To try it out, open your page once on your phone and once on a computer.
